At the University of Sheffield, I've served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, imparting knowledge in subjects ranging from structural analysis to computer-aided design and geotechnics. I've led tutorial sessions aimed at enhancing crucial skills like communication and leadership, ensuring students are well-equipped for academic and professional success.

My research investigates the reuse of Cement Bypass Dust as a cement replacement with the goal of manufacturing a sustainable concrete with excellent mechanical and durability properties. Through this research I have developed skills in materials characterisation, life cycle analysis and statistical analysis.

At the Thayer School of Engineering (Dartmouth College), I conducted a research internship focusing on sustainable materials for additive manufacturing. Through experimentation, I evaluated the rheological suitability of different pastes for 3D printing. A mixture containing pecan shell flour, water, and sodium silicate emerged as the most promising. This experience deepened my understanding of both sustainable material exploration and additive manufacturing technology.

This task included planning events such as school visits, liaising with the land manager, project management and engagement with students. The duties were focused on helping out in academic support activities, such as providing tutoring for undergraduates who had difficulties with academic skills like essay writing or referencing, which enhanced my teaching and mentoring skills.

At the beginning of my ambassadorial role I was supporting events run by the Recruitment and Outreach department. Those events included Taster Days, Open Days and Summer schools. Being a student that represented the STEM subjects, I mainly supported the Engineering tasters. By helping out the academics in running the sessions smoothly and even explaining some of the experiments, I soon was allowed to demonstrate myself in some of the workshops. My main role was to represent the students’ opinions and raise any issues that would lead to dissatisfaction. I was able to exemplify the skills leadership and communication experience with this role.

Tasks included helping with the packaging of merchandise to be transported to the designated distributors and aid with management of the employees including creating their rotas and giving induction to new staff members. I was also in charge of preparing and explaining certain risk assessments regarding work in the warehouse.
