South Asian Association for Regional Corporation (SAARC) Gender Policy Advocacy Group is an Inter-governmental expert group created for the objectives to: 1. Advocate to keep gender high on the policy agenda of the SAARC Countries a. for enhancing political and administrative will on Gender Equality b. for ensuring implementation of commitments by Member States to empowerment of women and Gender Equality c. for monitoring progress 2. Identify common issues and provide policy advice

- Support the passage of the GEL (Gender Equality Law) through the parliament- Conduct advocacy around the issues addressed in the GEL among stakeholders and the public- Advocate the effective implementation of the GEL- Develop advocacy materials

 Monitor the implementation of all recommendations issued by the Commission. Monitoring Elections. Monitoring Demonstrations. Visiting Palaces of Detention. Monitoring Human Rights Situation in the Atolls. Involved actively in coordinating and organizing of national events and International days, such as Human Rights Day and World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse. Assisting the research teams in the research projects undertaken. UPR-Focal point of the Commission and actively involved in the Submission of UPR. Representing HRCM at National level, such as UPR standing Committee, CRC Steering Committee and Focal person for Disaster Contingency Planning at UN Maldives. Drafting of HRCM reports to the UN Human Rights Treaties, UPR and Special Procedures.
