Ahmed Ezzeldin Khaled Email and Phone Number
My research interests are oriented towards designing and developing systems, tools, and applications for the Internet of Things (IoT), as a particular use case of distributed systems. The main focus is on three main fields: 1) Smart and usable healthcare systems; 2) Location-aware microservices for smart spaces; and 3) Utilizing Data Modeling and Data-Analytics techniques for descriptive, discovery, and predictive analytics. The research projects involve software and hardware platforms from different vendors and with different operating environments. I also taught a broad set of classes related to my research, and these classes include Introduction to the Internet of Things (IoT), Parallel Computing and Distributed Systems, Modern Database Systems, Design of Database Systems, Computer Networks, and Operating Systems.

Research AssistantUf Computer & Information Science & Engineering Jan 2015 - PresentGainesville, Fl, UsMy project with Prof. Sumi Helal at Mobile and Pervasive Computing Laboratory at CISE is about designing and developing architecture for things in the Iot, named Atlas architecture. The goal is to transform the thing to a more smarter and interactive thing that: 1) discover its inner capabilities, 2) form meaningful interactions with other things, and 3) seamlessly integrate into the ecosystem through pushing down device management and programmability from cloud to the thing. Designing the architecture is the first part of the project, while the second part is the enablement of real IoT engagement through defining programming model. The project is in the developing phase on different real hardware platforms and different operating environment (e.g., Raspberry-pi, Beaglebone, Qualcomm Dragon, Android smartphone). -
