• Carry out safety area inspections• Check for possible safety hazards onboard• Consult Vessel Management and safety representatives for arrangements promoting health and safety• Encourage crew members to submit ideas and suggestions for improving safety and enlist their support for any safetymeasures• Check that safety devices are functioning properly• Assist the Safety Organisation in investigating incidents• Make recommendations to the Safety Organisation to prevent the recurrence of an accident or to remove a hazard• Maintain records of inspections and investigations• Ensure compliance with Company and Flag State requirements with respect to safety inspections, safety meetings,accident investigations, and reportingThe Safety Officer shall supervise and co-ordinate crew safety training through the Seagull system. This includes themonthly exports.The Safety Officer shall maintain a good working relationship with the Safety representatives - for example:• Inviting the safety representative to join the Safety Area Inspections• During investigations, consulting them on safety matters and arrangements. In particular on any follow up actionproposed.

• Safe passage planning in accordance with Master's instructions and in compliance with GLSM 07-02 - Nautical• Safe navigation when on bridge watch as Officer of Watch (OOW) in compliance with Masters Standing Orders• Regular test and maintain all navigational and GMDSS equipment. Immediately inform the master of any defects ormalfunction• Assist maintaining the stability, trim and seaworthiness as directed by the Chief Officer and as prescribed by theCompany and relevant international rules and regulations• Instruct and supervise all crewmembers in the use of safety, environmental protection, firefighting and lifesavingequipment• Conduct safety area inspections• Supervision of personnel in his/her charge which includes:o Orientationo Health and safetyo Environmental protectiono Use of manuals and procedureso Proper use of tools and equipmento Standard maintenance and operating practices• Correct and update navigation charts• Maintain and manage inventory and ensure latest editions of publications as required by GLSM “Chart, Publications,• Be fully conversant with all matters concerning mooring and anchoring operations• Ordering of charts, publications and stores• Day to day maintenance of all lifesaving appliances• Ensure all maintenance and training records relating to lifesaving equipment is kept updated• Assist the Chief Officer in maintaining the medical locker / hospital• Ensure work and rest hour planning is done regularly and requirements are complied with. Bring any challenges in resthour compliance to the attention of Chief Officer / Master• PPE stocktaking and management• Stock keeping and ordering of stationaries• Stay informed of all matters concerning the vessel's operations within his/her fields of responsibility• Understudy of the Chief Officer for future responsibility and promotion• Adhere to the Chief Officers instructions regarding cargo ops,

• Safe navigation when on bridge watch as Officer of Watch (OOW) incompliance with Masters standing orders• Safe and efficient operations, following the Master's standing order•Assist maintaining the stability, trim and seaworthiness as directed by theChief Officer and as prescribed by the Companyand relevant internationalrules and regulations•Monitor loading and unloading of cargo and its treatment during the voyage,under the direction of Master and ChiefOfficer•Instruct and supervise all crewmembers in the use of safety, environmentalprotection, firefighting and lifesavingequipment• Supervision of personnel in his/her charge which includes:oOrientationoHealth and safetyoEnvironmental protectionoUse of manuals and proceduresoProper use of tools and equipmentoStandard maintenance and operating practices•Assist with the correction of nautical publications•Be fully conversant with all matters concerning mooring and anchoring operationsDay to day maintenance of all firefighting appliances•Ensure all maintenance and training records relating to firefightingequipment is kept updated•Ensure all ALRS volumes and List of Lights publications are updated•Ensure work and rest hour planning is done regularly and requirements are complied with.
