Ahmed A. Alvarez, a 1980 graduate of the University of Miami’s School of Architecture, is a registered architect and LEED accredited professional with over 35 years of experience. Alvarez specializes in managing large teams of consultants for complex projects including mid and high-rise residential, hospitality, mixed-use, retail, commercial and parking facilities. He is involved in all aspects of architectural work—from client contact, programming and pre-design services to construction documents and administration. Alvarez’s hands-on approach involves the intense cross-checking of contract documents to identify coordination issues between design disciplines and the careful evaluation of schedule and budget, ultimately reducing the potential for change orders, time extensions, and liability claims. He is particularly adept at maintaining momentum and keeping his team engaged to ensure that his projects reach a timely completion. Alvarez’s experience also includes on-site supervision, which entails verification of construction for compliance with the contract documents, specifications and building codes as well as quality control, shop drawing review, evaluation of change orders and payment requisitions. Alvarez also specializes in the survey and analysis of existing facilities, current and future space needs and determining appropriate locations for future buildings.
