While at the EMC Corporation, I supervised three separate Storage Architect and Implementation teams during a large-scale EMC data center migration project. I developed and implemented a migration plan aimed toward an 80% virtualized 6PB environment for both physical and virtual servers. Using different technologies, Vplex, VMware Site Recovery Manager, SRDF, Open Replicator, PPME.I utilized Vplex technology to complete the physical server migration and Storage VMotions, Site Recovery Manager (SRM), and dedicated swing storage to complete the virtual server migration. Throughout migration, I was able to complete an almost seamless movement of data and create a consistent swing space for straightforward and uncomplicated migration. I communicated with multiple key project players including application owners, Digital Brand Architects (DBAs), and system teams, throughout the migration project to verify completion and accuracy of all project requirements. Additionally, I communicated and negotiated with customers to determine tactical and strategic business requirements; reviewed project throughout project life cycle to determine requirement adherence and accuracy. I also developed several projects solutions, such as SRM and EMC Vplex, to complete all project requirements in accordance with EMC and industry best practices.

Architect and Manage the Storage and Backup Environment @ Space Telescope leading a team of Storage Professionals.Storage Manager for Storage, Virtualization and Backup environments.Space Telescope Institute is responsible for the Science Operations of the Hubble Space Telescope and the Flight and Science Operations of the next generation JWST.While I was the Principal Storage Technologist, I dove right in and completed multiple Storage, Backup, and SAN projects, retaining over $500,000 in company savings over a three year period.I evaluated company-wide storage and backup systems, implementing directions and developing strategic road maps for all teams related to Backup and Storage improvements. I analyzed and evaluated new trends and technologies and, based on his research, implemented company-wide product solutions, and I managed and maintained over one PetaByte of raw storage located across two redundant SANs.I also designed storage solutions for several projects, using current needs and future growth forecasts to develop innovative ideas. Through collaboration with senior IT Management and key stakeholders, I was able to adopt a unified architectural vision for the company’s storage, virtualization (VMWare), and back up environments. After consolidating these environments, I was successfully able to lower CapEx and OpEx statistics. Additionally, I orchestrated the McData director upgrade to Brocade DCX director switches, supervising all phases of the project from replacement identification to negotiation, procurement, design, and solution implementation. I was also able to implement a backup reporting system called Data Protection Advisor (DPA) and led backup infrastructure upgrade from ADIC i500 to an ADIC i2000 library with 400 slots.A key money saving achievement was the successful negotiation with vendors to reduce cost and recover savings. This introduced an annual savings of over $100,000, a significant portion of the overall IT budget.
