Over the past decade I have been involved in deploying chemical refining equipment, usually in the form of new process or product offerings. My experience in membranes can be traced back to 2000, in my graduate student work where we fabricated membranes based on single crystal silicon. In that work we decided to use the silicon membrane in micro heat pipes to cool high power electronics. Even during this early academic work, I spearheaded the commercial development of this technology that was funded by NASA. My subsequent training in innovation management became more formal as a SIEMENS Innovator in 2006. I was team leader where we successfully created a product concept, formed a business spin out and executed commercial launch that included Boeing as a first customer.
