My main responsibility was implementing IKEA’s sustainability strategy in its North American supply chain. I performed Health and Safety, Environmental, Labor Rights and Forestry audits at manufacturers and transport and service suppliers in US, Canada and Mexico. I mapped tier 2-3 suppliers and coordinated verification audits when the risk analysis showed potential for major risk. I onboarded new coworkers and potential and new suppliers on IKEA's sustainability strategy, supplier code of conduct (IWAY) and related working methods. In addition, I represented the Americas in IKEA's global energy and water matrix groups. I contributed to a revised supplier sustainability KPI and led energy efficiency projects. I also led the collection and analysis of environmental data and good examples from suppliers, which was input into business plans and IKEA's global sustainability report. * Audited 75 North American suppliers resulting in over 1200 improvements * Introduced new edition of code of conduct to audit team, business teams and suppliers by creating a communication packaging and training plan, providing trainings and creating supporting documents. * Assessed supplier energy management practices and identified improvement areas resulting in 25% increase in supplier sustainability scores. * Led energy efficiency projects at suppliers which identified average cost savings of 10%, CO2 reduction of 10%.

As a purchaser, I was responsible for the largest supplier group in the North American office. I led a team of technicians and logistic specialists to deliver cost reductions, better product quality and improved in-store availability to the IKEA stores and customers. Our achievements in these areas along with collaboration with the commercial sales team led the US stores to more than double sales. I enjoyed leading a high caliber team and working with motivated suppliers that believed in continuous improvement. There were CI projects happening at the same time as new products launches and normal daily business. It was my job to negotiate how to share the savings, create a strategic plan to keep us all on track and make sure my team had the support they needed. Thanks to all the hard work, we delivered savings even when material costs increased. As the volume grew, I saw firsthand how the quality of life improved in the communities around the manufacturers. This led me to my third role at IKEA working with supply chain sustainability.* Performed competitive bids annually resulting in 11% cost savings * Developed product improvements resulting in $3M in cost savings, better quality and healthier products with reduced environmental footprint * Improved product availability with better demand and capacity planning and follow up, which contributed to doubling retail sales * Introduced new fire retardant foam for seating products which met EU REACH requirements.* Participated in global new product development* Participated in logistics project resulting in a more accurate forecast and reduced pick time for supplier and better product availability *Participated in Kaizen events to decrease cycle time and costs and Six Sigma project to ensure consistent compliance to safety regulations*Implemented 100% Better Cotton/Sustainable Cotton at suppliers
