This internship provides me with opportunities to develop web applications in Ruby on Rails. I have worked on implementing new features in several existing projects. I am also working with a design intern to build an internal tool from the ground up. I have improved my skills with Ruby, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Additionally, I have become comfortable with database management, Bootstrap, GitHub, and Heroku.

Thanx enables traditional brick and mortar business to effortlessly identify, engage, and retain their best customers. One of my primary goals for the summer included implementing fraud detection and prevention on the iOS and Android platforms by using unique identifiers to lock out devices associated with fraud. Additionally, I frequently aided team members in Product and Sales by pulling data to assist in ROI analysis.

An SI Leader provides additional support to students in various classes by hosting regular Office Hours and SI Sessions. I am the SI Leader for Programming II, a course that teaches the fundamentals of data structures. I prepare SI Sessions for students on a weekly basis to supplement classroom instruction. Additionally, I hold regular office hours to answer questions about lecture or lab material. The SI Leader program has helped me develop my communication and interpersonal skills and has allowed me to create relationships with students, as well as faculty.

During the 12 weeks, I worked on a software project to detect private information in bodies of text using machine learning. I was able to enhance coding with skills-based trainings as well as get exposed to new software tools and programming languages. In addition to the internship, I attended the Google Women in Engineering summit, heard talks by other women engineers at Google about their experiences in the tech industry, and took classes about leadership and cultivating careers.

A large part of my internship in Aviation was dedicated to developing a script to automatically generate tables for various requirement documents. Manually, this process takes upwards of one month to complete. As a result of the implementation of the script, the documents can be completed in a day. Additionally, I fixed minor bugs in software and presented my work to others in the company. I gained experience in Python, C, and XML throughout the summer. Also I had the opportunity to refine my communication skills as well as improve documentation practices in my code.

Tasks included designing and developing various games for KU's particle physics website using Adobe Flash. Games developed involved particle interaction with the Higgs Boson, and magnetic field interaction. I gained significant knowledge of ActionScript 3.0, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.Communication, organization, and discipline skills were refined due to the deadlines provided, and the interaction required between the multiple people involved in the project.
