I am a proponent of continuous learning and make it a priority to identify opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in new areas, especially as it relates to improving effectiveness and productivity. Simply put, the word "complacent" is not in my vocabulary. I have routinely shown I am able to quickly and independently develop proficiency with new technology and software as well as easily assimilate complex concepts. In the past, I have had a tendency to dismiss skills that are naturally in my wheelhouse - specifically my soft skills. My interpersonal skills, communication skills, and emotional intelligence are things I have taken for granted assuming they are innate to everyone. But we all know this isn't the case. It was only through the eyes of others and their attribution of my various successes to these skills that I have come to understand these are sought-after assets and far more difficult to cultivate and master than any software or technical concept. My soft skills are showcased in my demonstrated ability to increase engagement in targeted demographics and improve volunteer recruitment efforts.Notable achievements include: - a 600% increase in International Student Orientation Leader applicants in three years (there were 24 applicants when I was hired). - the doubling of participants in student-led exhibits at the annual Mother Language Festival from 60 students the year before I was hired to 120 students.- a 270% increase in Festival attendees from 2015 to 2018 (~279 attendees to 755 attendees) making it one of the largest events on campus despite the small annual budget of approximately $1500.These achievements also demonstrate my ability to effectively develop, delivery and assess programs and events as well as successfully develop communications and marketing strategies.I have 7+ years of content strategy development and copy/technical writing experience. I am able to communicate information and ideas clearly and accurately using a variety of technologies, contexts and formats for varied audiences given their identified needs. I have both been a SME (in the areas of immigration policy and regulations, intercultural development and competency, and intercultural communication) and worked with SMEs to develop content goals and content intended for non-technical audiences. My background in program assessment and evaluation as well as learning and development allow me to create intentional programs with measurable outcomes and learning objectives and effectively assess if they are being met.
