I sparked an interest in the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience from a young age during my first exposure of the nervous system in high school. I began my journey in neuroscience shadowing a neuromuscular physician. The patient interaction, skills, and knowledge I learned during my time with Dr. Gwathmey served as a foundation to my education and career path. I soon applied and was accepted to Christopher Newport University, specifically the neuroscience program. I delved into the field and endulged my curiosity soaking up all the information and skills I could. During my time in the summer as a student, I worked as a nurse aide to further hone my skills regarding patient interaction and care while also gaining a new appreciation for nurses.I loved working with patients and so I got a job where both my interests met. I became an expert on laser therapy technology, specifically working with neuropathy patients. My knowledge of neurological conditions and patient care exceeded expectations.I wish to continue to help people while learning all I can about everything related to neuroscience. Whether that is through interacting with patients directly or assisting with research for new technology or therapies.
