The NASA Lunabotics Mining Competition is a university level competition to designand build a functioning mining robot able to withstand the harsh lunar environment.The robot must be able to traverse a treacherous lunar test bed, mine deep below theregolith surface, collect material, and bring the material to the specified area, all whilecomplying with NASA specified weight, size, and other technical requirements.As a member of the Mines team, I am the lead of the mechanical subsystems includingthe drivetrain, mining system, and material storage/ejection system. My main roleshave included:• Mechanical system design work• Mechanical systems modeling in CAD• Engineering calculations for mechanical systems• Part fabrication, rapid prototyping, and testing• Robot assembly• Leading the group progress and coordinating subsystems

This project involved designing and building an injection molding machine capable ofturning scrap plastic from failed 3D prints into functional parts. In the final design,recycled plastic was placed into an insulated steel pipe being heated by a band heater.A linear actuator then forced the molten plastic through a nozzle into a custom CNCmachined mold producing a working part. All electrical components were controlled byan Arduino and temperature settings were able to be adjusted through an interface thatwas programmed to a PID controller.As a member of this team, my main contributions included:• Designing the frame• Performing fluid and heat transfer simulations on the heated pipe and mold• Performing calculations to size the pipe, linear actuator, and frame components• CAD modeling of the system

The motivation behind this project was to stop pets from eating out of the bowl ofanother pet within the same household. To solve this, a pet bowl was designed to beopened only when the allowed pet is nearby using an RFID tag and scanner. The finalpet bowl utilized an RFID scanner programmed with an Arduino microcontroller and apulley system to open the food bowl when required. The system was also able to outputa pet feeding log which tracked which animal was eating and how often.The main aspects of this project that I completed included:• Programming the microcontroller to interface with the RFID scanner• Designing the bowl and pulley system• Designed and 3D printed custom parts to lock and open the bowl• Wiring Arduino to all electrical components• Programming a MATLAB script to track feeding information

This project involved reverse engineering a toy catapult and redesign it to bothfunction better while also making it more suitable for additive manufacturing methods.The toy catapult chosen was reverse engineered, modeled in CAD, and then remodeledsuch that it was able to easily be 3D printed by FDM.The main aspects of this project that I completed included:• Modeling the original catapult in CAD• Remodeling the catapult to be better suited for additive manufacturing• 3D printing each iteration of the catapult• Iterating the design to make it function better and be easier tomanufacture/assemble

Assisted in managing 20+ active projects many of which from beginning to completion.Reviewed mechanical and electrical submittals, assisted with subcontractor scheduling, and developed a spreadsheet to analyze the team’s financials and performance.

This personal project involved designing and building a working quadcopter with thegoal to maximize speed and acceleration.The main aspects of this project that I completed included:• Researching and sizing components such as propellers, motors, and batteries• Designing the frame to support all loads• Strategically placing components to lower center of gravity• Wiring electronics and interfacing with the microcontroller• Tuning flight and troubleshooting issues with components
