Working as a Metallurgist, specialising in the materials quality and testing of forged critical rotating parts for aerospace. Completing statistical analysis on process data, preparing super-alloy samples and carrying out microscope analysis. Leading a project team focused on 6-sigma process improvement to achieve a more controlled process and consistent high quality parts.

Took part in the UK’s first make-a-thon along with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers, with the goal of making a cup refilling system to help people with disabilities. Understood client needs as well as legal terms and conditions to make an acceptable product that has market viability. Created prototypes based off research that allowed certain devices, such as sensors, to be tested to select the optimum device for the final design. Concluded by building a cup refilling system in the short space of two days, this involved tackling several challenges and creating solutions from only the resources available in the maker space.

Investigated Nano-Magnetic logic gates for stochastic computing. Analysed data and wrote technical reports based upon results of programmed simulations and experiments. Developed an Excel spreadsheet that allowed logic gates to be easily designed, then trained my fellow team how to use the spreadsheet so it could be used to increase the speed of future projects.Researched Nano-Magnetic rings for their use in neuromorphic computing at The Diamond Light Source (Harwell Science and Innovation Campus), learning many new skills, to gather data and complete data analysis under the pressure of a short time frame
