Worked in School of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture on a project known as "Sweet Spot". We looked at maple syrup and honey producers in the state of Maine to get a sense of their locations, sizes of operations, history, and future plans to expand. The goal is, in short, to get a better sense of the market and promote cooperation and sustainable, responsible, growth among the producers. My responsibilities included making a few different maps using the ArcMap GIS platform, informally interviewing experts in related fields, thoroughly researching the subject area, and emailing/reaching out to small business owners interested in the project.

Worked in the North woods of Maine measuring the heights, diameter at breast height, measuring the depth to seasonal high water table, and assessing the form and value of trees both in plantations and in plots in the forest. Gained valuable experience in the field gathering data and camping weekly in order to work efficiently and gather as much accurate data as possible. Learned many species of trees in the woods of Maine, and got to view the scientific method from a different point of view than is taught in school.

Gained customer service experience, worked independently, served customers, took care of stocking the case and cleaning the work space. Oftentimes tended to customers who spoke, and worked quickly and efficiently to fulfill dinner orders.
