I’m an independent education consultant, but that’s a title cloaked in mystery. Let’s remove the shroud a little:What I really do is empower school leaders to enhance their offer in order to enrich pupils’ lives.Why 'empower'?Because I work collaboratively, alongside people - I don't 'do to' people, and I don't 'do for' people. When I leave I leave people with skills they can apply on their own, as well as an excellent piece of work that we’ve created together.Why 'enhance' (and what do I mean by 'offer')?School improvement. Change management. Staff development. It's all encompassed by the idea of enhancement - the increase of quality and value. As for offer, I'm talking about curriculum, pedagogy, leadership - all those things that come together in a school to serve the pupils, and on that note...Why 'enrich'?Well, this one's not dissimilar to ‘enhance’ but here we’re talking about the children – the reason why we all do what we do. Every school leader and every teacher I’ve ever worked with agrees on one thing: it’s all about the children. There’s no point in enhancing the things a school does if it doesn’t enrich pupils’ lives so everything I do with leaders and teachers has that ultimate goal.And in practice what does this look like?I come to your school and get to know you, your staff, your pupils and your goals for them. I bring along my expertise, my range of experiences and my ability to problem-solve innovatively. We work together, taking action steps towards your goals and always finish the day with tangible outcomes designed to give your pupils what they really deserve: a high quality education. I also leave staff feeling enlightened and raring to continue on that journey.And it’s not just me who thinks so positively about what I do.
