UWA Rover is a new program with the goal of constructing a remote controlled rover, mimicking that of the Curiosity Mars Rover from NASA. In this program I am involved in the design of the robot manipulator arm attachment.

• I completed the Alcoa Vacation Student Program, working as a Mechanical Reliability Engineer in the Mud Filtration Plant. During this time, the skills learnt and work completed was as follows:
• Analysed BTT data to upgraded conveyor skirting in areas where data showed excessive wear.
• Implemented a caustic wash cycle for samples of used polypropylene filter cloth. The cloths were then tested for contaminants by plastic recycling providers to potentially reduce the plant landfill by 50-ton p/a
• Ran safety meetings regarding the installation of new equipment, completing Safe Work Instructions for the tasks as well as PEHSR analysis of risks.
• Completed WONEEE (Working on or Near Electrical and Electronic Equipment) training, as well as general safety courses for the site.
