Provide proofreading and editing services to researchers writing articles for international journals or editing volumes of conference proceedings.

I developed and grew a new strategic evaluation function, aiming to improve my whole organisation's approach to measuring social impact. I managed a small team to carry out internal evaluation and helped programme leads to commission external consultants, and developed an evaluation training programme with an external partner. As a senior manager I was also responsible for organisation wide projects outside my immediate function.Key achievements:- I led the team that helped to carry out or commission evaluation for a £40m, 3 year programme of investment in improving men's health, liaising with funders, third sector partners and with NHS organisations- I led our survey of over 3,000 members of the general public across the UK to find out about their knowledge of prostate cancer and its risk factors, their personal connections to prostate cancer, and their views on how charities and Government should act- I led the development of a major research project in partnership with clinicians and academics, leading to the award of a £2.1m grant to the University of Leeds and Queens University Belfast for a multi-stranded project on patient reported outcomes- I led the development of a reporting tool and infographic for our trustees to communicate our quarterly performance and overall impact- I represented the charity at external conferences, events and working groups.Prostate Cancer UK is a national charity that delivers services, funds research and campaigns to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

I managed and provided technical direction for consultancy research projects, mostly mixed methods / qualitative evaluations of projects and large-scale programmes for public and third sector clients, including: local authorities; UK Government (various NHS bodies, Department for Education, DWP, sector skills bodies); and the European Commission. My research covered a range of interconnected social policy topics: including public health and inequalities; employment and skills; child poverty and multiple disadvantage; families and young people; welfare reform. I managed and coached teams of researchers and specialist subcontractors, taking on a lead role for projects of up to £120k in value, and acting as part of the management team for larger research assignments. I wrote proposals and reports, communicated findings, and made decisions about what new business to go for, contributing to the growth and development of the consultancy practice. I started as a junior researcher and was promoted to senior level after just over a year.GHK Consulting (now part of ICF International) is a multidisciplinary consultancy firm, with a focus on research for public sector clients across the UK and EU.

I managed and led the expansion of a training programme for doctors & nurses to improve their skills in working with victims of rape and sexual assault, within a multi-agency project (The Haven) that brought together NHS services, Metropolitan Police & forensic scientists. I worked closely with clinicians and Police to develop, improve and evaluate the courses and introduce them to a wider market of healthcare professionals, to generate income for the programme.

I joined the NHS Management Training Scheme as a General Management trainee and completed three full time work placements alongside a part time Masters degree in management.I worked on various projects at Rotherham Primary Care Trust, including managing the administration team for the sexual health clinic. I later worked in the health inequalities team at West Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority, carrying out site visits, gathering intelligence and producing performance analysis for the executive team and the general public. I was also seconded as a researcher to the Social Exclusion Unit in central Government.

I assisted the research team at the Social Exclusion Unit to produce a major cross-government report on the barriers encountered by vulnerable people in accessing public services.

I worked as a Research Assistant for an MEP in the European Parliament.
