I have recently graduated with a 2:1 in BSc Microbiology with Honours. My education was a deeply insightful experience. Learning various relevant techniques and being familiar with modern laboratory equipment was crucial to my future goals. Skills such as health and safety protocols, aseptic plating techniques, preparing & performing PCR, ELISA & additional detection assays, gram staining principles, microscopy techniques, etc were fundamental to my understanding and progress within microbiology, diagnostics, and testing. Learning these skills over the course of a pandemic only catalysed my determination further to achieve my ambitions.Alongside my degree I have worked for almost four years in a challenging yet rewarding role within retail where I gained additional skills on top of my degree such as regularly adhering to strict health and safety guidelines, maintaining high quality standards in hygiene, inventory, and stock management, and working in large teams. This has led to me taking on a new role within this company which involves experiencing full time hours, travelling to other locations, and coordinating with colleagues from a range of diverse backgrounds.I enjoy keeping active and going walks, hiking, and camping. I am often involved with these activities in my voluntary role as a Cub Scout Leader, assisting with the needs of others while gaining planning and organisation skills. I believe I have a strong mentality and determination to work hard and achieve success. I believe through my extensive array of skills I would be able to work effectively both as an individual and with a team.
