I have been responsible for building our entire company standards library, as well as creating and managing drawing packages.My day to day duties includeManaging CAD licensestrouble shooting software issuesensuring that our standards are kept up to datecreating working drawing sets of various office projectsI have a fast paced job that requires me to think on my feet and be readily able to problem solve, all while ensuring our drawings retain our rigorous standards

Engaging in Client meetings before, during, and after production to ensure that our scope of work encompassed all of their needs.Performing site surveys across Canada and creating survey drawings as a basis for preliminary drawing sets.Providing assistance in the creation of preliminary plans for both new jobs and existing rollouts. This often involved doing the “first pass” on drawings and then editing and refactoring them based on supervisor review.Creating Architectural working drawing sets for permitting/tendering/construction.Liaising with Engineers to create companion drawings for our architectural sets. It was also my responsibility to review these companion drawings to ensure consistency across the entire package.Managing permit submittals with various municipalities across Canada.Assisting with project close out documents and coordinating deficiency walkthroughs either in office or with liaisons.Managing our design libraries to ensure that both our physical and electronic records were organized and up to dateCreating material presentation boards, and managing our sample libraryThese responsibilities encompassed a large number of other tasks as well. Often times I would need to adapt new rollouts or standalone projects to our existing CAD standards. I would also create templates that allowed our other production staff to quickly and easily draft drawings, without having to worry about any AutoCAD overhead. This enabled us to quickly respond to rollout requests as they arose. Finally, I was also involved in the design and presentation phases of many jobs. I had a direct hand in the overall design of several projects and I often would be required to create mock up drawings for clients using a variety of tools such as Sketchup modelling, Photoshop manipulation of existing elements, and occasionally using rendering software to create photorealistic visualizations.

I recently completed a contract with this employer regarding office renovations taking place in the near future.

As a Junior Designer my job demanded a great deal of flexibility. I worked on a variety of projects both inside and outside the office. These projects included preparing working drawing packages for clientele, creating initial design packages, 3d modelling, Photoshop rendering, as well as the caretaking of the Shikatani Lacroix sample library. During many of these projects I worked with a team of dedicated individuals to complete tasks and projects for our clientele. The work experience I gained at Shikatani is some that I consider to be invaluable.
