Managing Director

Dublin, Ireland

Having worked extensively in publishing, I co-founded Far From Avocados with my partner based on a simple but overlooked insight: in an age of information overload, time and attention have become increasingly hard-fought commodities. Provide value to your audience through content, and they'll give your brand the time and attention that evades your competitors. We have the tools, the expertise and the experience to help you build audiences and turn them into consumers. Our clients include Pallas Foods, Irish Life, Glen Dimplex, Fexco, SuperValu, Enterprise Ireland and Zutec. Group Editor

Dublin And Manchester

I led the transformation of the Lovin Group from a food blog – Lovin Dublin – to one of Ireland's leading digital publishing groups, and one of the fastest-growing in the world.I led editorial ideation, news-gathering and verification, content production and distribution, growing traffic by more than 600%, while also playing a key role in the commercial side of the house – in particular, I drove the Lovin Group to become one of the market leaders in native content, as well as developing the newsroom service we ran for clients such as Jobbio and Littlewoods Ireland.I instilled a data-driven approach to news and content distribution, developing tracking mechanisms and data visualisation methods so that the expanding content team would constantly be able to replicate successes and hit the ambitious group targets. Drawing on my experience both as a journalist and as a digital marketer, I did all the above while developing the Lovin brand into one that's synonymous across Ireland and the UK with premium lifestyle content – vastly improving editorial standards in the process – and helped to turn a small start-up into an established and professionalised digital publisher.

Feb 2015 - Oct 2016

Head Of Digital

Ireland

As part of Newstalk's management team, and reporting at board level within Communicorp and Newstalk, my role was to lead the station's change from on-air broadcaster to multi-platform publisher. Combining my prior experience, both within digital strategy and journalism, I developed and implemented a strategy that would turn us into a digital-first outlet, including the launch of Newstalk.com, and the first integrated content strategy across both on-air and online channels.I grew a team of digital journalists and operatives, expanding the team to almost three times its original size, ensuring the output was of a consistently high quality – and ensuring that we used the best available technologies to satisfy the needs of our audience.

Feb 2014 - Feb 2015

Journalist

Dublin

I wrote two weekly columns for the Irish Independent's Day & Night magazine, another two for the Evening Herald, as well as regular features, gig reviews, lifestyle pieces, travel articles and whatever you're having yourself.I started with the Evening Herald as a teen columnist in 2003, and soon began to increase my workload both with that paper and the Irish Independent (once I'd got the small matter of the Leaving Cert out of the way). In the time since then, I've written on a huge variety of topics - from news to arts, from music to sports, from health to food and drink, and too many others to mention here - including a few magazine cover stories along the way. Amid all this diversity, though, I've consistently specialised in live music reviews - having filed several hundred pieces and watched more than a thousand acts perform.

Aug 2003 - Jul 2014

Dublin, Ireland

Simply Zesty is Ireland's largest full-service digital agency, engaging with brands and consumers through creative, insight, strategy and technology. As Social Media Manager, and head of the Community Team, it was my job to make content work for brands and for the agency itself. I delivered high-quality campaigns and strategies for clients including Vodafone, the UN, Littlewoods Ireland, Club Orange, Bank of Ireland, Dublin GAA and multiple governmental agencies both in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
