At the University of California – San Francisco:• Build partnerships and coalitions in the Bay Area Region. • Using a social marketing approach, provide training and technical consultation in program planning, implementation and evaluation to regional, state and local organizations striving to reach the medically underserved and ethnic minority communities with evidence-based cancer programming.• Work collaboratively with institutions / organizations such as state health departments, cancer centers and other organizations that address the needs of the medically underserved and ethnic minority audiences.• Once the partnership is established, train partners in the use of resources and tools such as www.cancer.gov/espanol, the Body and Soul training, the Clinical Trials Education series and many others. Promote these resources and tools through numerous networking activities as well.• In order to maintain highly effective, long-term relationships with partners, provide consulting tailored to implement and evaluate programs.

Specific Duties:Under supervision of the Director of Community Affairs, responsible for overall management of the Promotoras Program (Adults and Teens), including, but not limited to, direct staff supervision, financial viability of the program, establishing effective community partnerships and relations, and ensuring the program meets requirements established by funding sources. Develop strategies for program expansion and promotion, as well as implementing and monitoring program budget.Successful spokesperson for Spanish media and for external community agencies.Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide presentations on a variety of topics and issues relating to PPGG services, reproductive health, human sexuality, life planning, sexual abuse, and parent/child communication. Keep current on statistics pertaining to issues of the agency (i.e. teen pregnancy rates, STI rates, etc.) and plan and facilitate monthly updates or advisory meetings for the Promotoras and Promotores.Develop plans and strategies for completing specific objectives that are outlined in grant proposals that have secured funding for the Promotoras Program and assist the PPGG Medical Services division in evaluating health center services for the Latino population. Supply information and data to the Development department when needed for progress reports to current program funders and assist them in the writing of grant proposals to fund the day-to-day functions and future expansion of the Program.Develop and evaluate strategies for outreach to Latinas and Latinos throughout San Mateo County, the San Mateo County coastline and San Francisco County.Coordinate the development and production of appropriate outreach materials and develop evaluation procedures for use in the Promotoras Program.

Translate English copies for Spanish greeting cards. Translate and edit text in prose and verse form. Write original copies suitable for the Hispanic market. Through the process of "transcreation" (combination of translation and original creative writing), transform English copies into Spanish copies. Perform as "Lead Editor" for several programs. Perform proofreading activities (verse check). Participate in Spanish team brainstorming and copy review meetings.Perform creative searches in data base program and Internet in order to support the translation process and editing functions. Process edited copies into the data base program.Participate in departmental presentations for other company members. Participate in the planning of activities for the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration: researching, translating, writing, and editing material for the event.

Performed layout and other designs utilizing computer software (Corel Draw and Page Maker, mostly), to incorporate art, printed material, numbers, pictures, and charts. Perform pre-press work: negatives and plate setup. Create and maintain a database of plates, artwork, invoices, and other documents related to orders.
