The Irish Hospital Consultants Association was founded in 1989 to promote and support the practice of medicine in Ireland. We represent around 95 per cent of all hospital consultants working in Ireland. I represent and advise the Association's 3,500 members on a wide range of workplace and employment issues. I am a senior contributor to the Association's membership services function, policy development and communications and engage in negotiations at national level with health services management and Government departments on a range of industrial relations issues.

Aside from general practice in conveyancing and litigation, a large part of my professional experience centred on the provision of advice and representation to a range of trade unions, representative bodies and statutory regulators operating in the healthcare sector.

During my employment with the Law Society of Ireland, I was promoted to the position of Policy Development Executive within the Department of Policy, Communications and Member Services. The Department carries out the Society’s representative function and I worked primarily in policy formulation and promotion of member services.
