I am an Industrial and Systems Engineer (B.Eng ISE) and an Associate Engineer Member of Engineers Ireland (AEng. MIEI) with a background in Electronic Engineering . I am delighted to have been elected to serve a second term on the Council of Engineers Ireland (June 2023-June 2026) My current job title, Senior Technician belies my current role with Transport Infrastructure Ireland. While my background with TII/NRA started almost 30 years ago responsible for Traffic data collection systems, my current role is centered on the maintenance of all of TII's Road Network ITS systems. I specialise in managing maintenance operations of TII's third generation, multi €million/multi annual, ITS Equipment Maintenance Contract and also ITS equipment maintenance management on TII's M50 MTFO DC contract. I have extensive experience in all aspects of TII's Road ITS contracts including, Contract document development and Contract Management, Maintenance Management, Project Management, ITS Site Design, ITS Equipment Procurement, Deployment and Testing. Stakeholder Engagement is high on my list of skillsets, communicating with all stakeholders including fellow TII staff across all disciplines, Employers Representative Consultants, External Consultants, Local Authorities, ITS EMC Contractors, Motorway Maintenance and Renewal Contractors (MMARCs) & PPP Contractors, equipment suppliers and the general public. I am regarded as one of TII's Road ITS experts, managing maintenance on an extensive network of Traffic Monitoring Units (TMU), Weigh in Motion (WIM) systems, Variable Message signs (VMS), CCTV & ANPR Cameras plus associated back office databases and systems. Mine is a very busy and rewarding role but varied to the point where you never stop learning. Previously worked as an Instrumentation Electrician in mining and medical industries (Tara Mines Navan Ireland & Welch Allyn Ltd Navan -medical equipment manufacturer) & former Revenue employee.
