Short version: 12+ years of experience as an Infrastructure nerd, facilitator, diplomat, writer who converts the technical into the meaningful, mentor, engineer of sorts, analyst with a love of excel, stickler for TOTEX based value justifications, asker of "What is the problem we're trying to solve?", mediocre piano player, new dad.The long version: I believe Engineering is about connecting people to solve the technical parts of larger social, environmental and affordability problems. The best engineers do this in a way that non-engineers can understand, and deliver solutions needed by the community not just designs/ bridges/ deliverables. Over the 12 years since graduating as a civil engineer, I have worked as an estimator, site engineer, project manager, mentor, technical writer, bid director, facilitator, researcher, and investment program manager. Out of this, I value most my communication and people skills because it is these that are needed to bring diverse groups together, facilitate problem solving, get agreement and realise tender wins, project solutions, and investment benefits.
