Overseeing the design/ development of both jersey and knitwear since S/S16; from initial conceptual trend research to realizing product that has a commercial awareness of the Charles Tyrwhitt consumer. • Overseeing the design/ development of accessories from S/S18. • To set up and update development trackers across Jersey, Knitwear & Accessories– So the department has an ability to measure sampling and keep a track on the whereabouts of sampling, production and critical path dates.• Working closely with the buying and merchandising team to build design led ranges that work commercially across all channels of retail, catalogue and online. Looking at best sellers and big buys to ensure and all colourways so that the customer has a wide selection of ideas to select from.• Presenting jersey, knitwear & accessories ranges in Seasonal Range planning meetings to Buying and Merchandising Directors. • Undertaking trips to Italy, for trade shows such as Pitti Umo, Pitti Filatti & Spin Expo to build up my knowledge of the latest seasonal trends within garment design and yarn quality- and presenting these findings to the business on my return. • Visiting factories across Europe and the Far East to build strong relationships with suppliers across all casual areas of the business. • Managing the sample library and archive – So we have an ability to call on previous development work and ideas from previous seasons.• Working on presentations for the Design Creative Director assembling and building presentations for strategy days, board meetings, store review meetings and visual merchandising meetings.

During my contract I worked soley on the Marks & Spencers account across suiting, stand alone jackets and trousers. Sourcing and developing fabrics and working closely with the client to build a concise and design led range with the commercial awareness of the Marks & Spencers customer.

As Menswear design assistant my job roles covers a wide range of responsibilites to aid the Head Menswear Designer. My main duty is to oversee and maintain design packs that are sent to suppliers from Italy and the Far East which means working closely with Austin Reed buyers to ensure designs are archieved in a commerical way without losing the vision of the Head Designer. Other duties include fabric sourcing, colour analysis, shop reports and trend analysis while also undertaking gernal administration design duties.

I interned under the direction of Louise Rhodes who has set up this high-end womenswear label now in its third season. Throughout my four month internship, I worked in the production of samples for the SS12 collection. This involved the pattern-cutting of numerous garments, fitting them, and then re-working them to the designer's wishes. I then worked in the production and manufacture of the samples acting as communicator between the designer and the London based factory to reach sample quality satisfied to the wishes of the designer, at a fixed price. With this, I then took charge of the manufacture of the A/W11 collection due to my calm yet direct approach in working with the factories.

I worked as a creative pattern-cutter for the A/W11 and S/S12 Menswear range. This role developed my pattern cutting skills immensely, and many of the garments and accessories that I worked on for the show also became integral to the selling collection that was sold internationally for those seasons. Whilst at McQueen I was promoted to Head of Internships, a role which gave me the responsibility of looking after the organisation and welfare of the company’s interns as well as ensuring that their work was to the high level expected at the McQueen studios. With this responsibility and opportunities arose to work alongside the team in meetings with the Creative Directors of MCQ and McQueen.

I spent two months working as a design assistant at House of Holland. My role mainly included assisting one of the designers, Ashley Fletcher. My duties involved creating and toiling patterns, running errands, sourcing fabrics and working with factories in the production of samples and stock. I also was involved in constructing final garments and assisting the collection stylist for the House of Holland show.
