In September 2021, I started a permanent role at Flegg High Ormiston Academy following a successful placement during my PGCE. I have taught French and Spanish to both KS3 and KS4, delivering effective, engaging lessons which have consistently enabled pupils to make progress and enjoy success in MFL. I have become adept at building strong relationships with pupils and, through CPD, have built up high levels of competence.I have an in-depth knowledge of the GCSE curriculum for both French and Spanish, bolstered by having conducted speaking exams, taken sole responsibility for marking GCSE mock exams and running targeted revision sessions outside of school time based on individuals' needs. I am well placed for the transition to the new GCSE (for which teaching will commence in 2024), as I am currently delivering KS3 lessons using the National Centre for Excellence for Language Pedagogy resources (NCELP) schemes of work. NCELP focuses on equipping students with the skills required to be successful in the new GCSE, and I have successfully implemented and adapted NCELP resources to create engaging, challenging lessons. I was also an integral part of the school's Boys Working Group, which aims to motivate disengaged boys to achieve their targets. Based on Progress 8 Scores, I have worked closely with members of SLT to identify boys who require intervention. Personally, I have acted as a mentor for Year 11 boys and have created a Learning Support Plan template for teachers to refer to. I was also an active member of the school community, regularly assisting on school trips. I assisted with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, KS3 extra-curricular activities trips, and, this year, the school ski trip to Obertauern, Austria. As an MFL teacher, experience with trips is essential and I intend to utilise this experience in the future to plan Language Department trips for pupils to give pupils the opportunity to experience Spanish/French culture outside of the classroom.

As a Student Ambassador for the University of Nottingham, I represented the university at events for prospective students and other groups. This involved relaying my knowledge, experience and advice to people who come to find out more about studying at the University of Nottingham. In this role I engaged with a wide range of people, from school children to prospective MA students to parents. This included conducting campus tours, leading group sessions for younger students and public speaking.

Worked as an English language assistant in IES Emérita Augusta, a secondary school (ages 12-18) in Mérida, Spain

I spent two months in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on an internship at Sentimonitor, a start-up which provides a social media monitoring platform for businesses. In this role I was able to carry out a range of tasks:- I did an analysis of Sentimonitor's competitors within Brazil, to ensure that the company was still offering a valuable product at a competitive price.- I contributed to a project which aimed to forge partnerships with agencies and consultancies who could sell Sentimonitor's product to the final consumer. - I accompanied colleagues to the Gramado Summit 2018, where I pitched Sentimonitor's product to investors from all over Brazil. - I developed a competence in Brazilian Portuguese, which allowed me to communicate better with colleagues and other interested parties. I also translated various documents from Portuguese into English, including the Sentimonitor platform user's manual.
