Using data analysis and their training in diversity, equity, and inclusion, Feltkamp creates environments in which inclusion can thrive through tweaking traditional structures, using grassroots techniques to recruit diverse candidates, educating leaders on diversity, and advocating for those who have historically the least amount of opportunities. They’ve consulted for arts organizations such as the Metropolitan Opera (National Council Auditions), The Philadelphia Orchestra, the LA Phil (Composer Fellowship Program), Kaufman Music Center’s Luna Lab, Chamber Music America (Ensemble Connect), and OPERA America.They’ve spoken on panels about inclusion at the League of American Orchestras National Conference, New Music Gathering, Detroit Symphony Orchestra ROOTS Festival, Women in Classical Music Symposium, and others. They served as the first-ever Director of Diversity & Composer Advancement for the American Composers Orchestra from 2018-2022.Feltkamp has received certificates in Diversity and Inclusion (Cornell University), Data Science (BrainStation), and Leadership (New York Community Trust). They graduated with a M.M. from the Bard College Conservatory of Music in Dawn Upshaw’s Graduate Vocal Arts Program, and with a B.S. in Vocal Performance from Hofstra University. In their free time, they serve on the board of Wildflower Composers, as a cabinet member for Victory Hall Opera's SINGTANK collective, a DEI advisor for the Boulanger Initiative, and a member of OPERA America's Communications Council, advising on the OPERA America Magazine. They live in Jersey City with their partner, cat, two parrots, and robot dog.
