Actively controlling the spread of radioactive contamination by:- Obtaining and analyzing radiation surveys and information to record in radiation protection databases - Responded to alarms from radiation monitoring equipment and quickly developed solutions to restore safety and optimal function - Both offered and received critical coaching in a team environment where safety is held in high regard - Daily usage of radiation instruments to perform dose-rate surveys, and to consistently check for both potential surface contamination, and airborne/tritium hazards - Utilizing human performance tools such as Self-Check, STAR, SAFER, TWIN and Two-minute job drills - Donning and doffing of radiation personal protective equipment (RPPE) - Qualified by the head of McMaster’s Health Physicist department to both lead and be responsible for up to five people in a Radioactive Work Area - Assisted in the guidance of the very first CNSC tour done at Laurentis and received great feedback on my knowledge of procedures and expected practices - Continuously taking responsibility to train new hires on the production flow of the facility, with solid RP and ALARA principles being the number one priority - Conducted tours for various members of Ontario Power Generation’s executive leadership team on the Sorting and Segregation process of our facility
