Cork Community Land Trust (CCLT) is a non-profit, democratic, inclusive and diverse organisation which will provide a structure for local communities to develop affordable, sustainable homes as well as social, cultural and ecological spaces. Cork Community Land Trust (CCLT) Steering Group signed a founding charter on 30 May 2022 to bring into being Cork’s first Community Land Trust.

Given her background in Architecture, Ailbhe has the skills to identify and capture the key Architectural features set out in built architectural works. Ailbhe has has worked for various design organisations and as a freelance Architectural Photographer.

My experience in freelance design varies greatly and includes the following: - 1 timber post and beam Pavilion (constructed)- 1 residential house extension (constructed)- 1 residential house extension (initial design phase)- 1 refurbishment of local GP office (completed)- 1 upgrade of food safety wash area (constructed)- 1 upgrade of public house smoking area & landscape design (constructed)- 1 refurbishment of solid stone outhouse into a multi purpose black box theatre and events room (constructed)- 1 design proposal for derelict stone cottage (initial design)

Desireland works on two levels: The consultancy develops and manages healthcare research programmes for clients. The principles that emerge in the process of this professional work are then further developed in not for profit community based demonstration projects. Examples include the Lifeline Project, Project Bí, SPUDS and the Sitric Compost Garden Community ‘street’ interventions.Kaethe Burt-O’Dea, the founder of desireland, is an independent healthcare design consultant based in Dublin, Ireland. A diverse range of experience contributes to her research approach including careers in the arts, nursing, organic farming, product design, and cross-disciplinary sustainable design development. Her consultancy, desireland, focuses on the socio-cultural relationships that influence human well-being within the built environment and the promotion of integrated healthcare systems.Bí URBAN was a unique two day process of participatory research partnering six urban beekeeping projects with representatives from social projects, academics, professionals and citizens resident in Dublin’s Northwest Inner City, to create a hyperactive learning environment and foster trans-disciplinary exchange.Participants used the principals of the bee colony as a starting point to explore the following themes:- Strengthening local, national and international networking and resource sharing.- Developing ICT architecture and mapping strategies for the mutual benefit of all.- Providing a case study to support the development of Citizen Science methodology and application.

INDUSTRIA presents the work of Graduate Architects from the Dublin School of Architecture. In their thesis year, the students responded to a brief devised by their school as part of a collaboration with IDA Ireland - an organisation responsible for attracting foreign direct investment to Ireland. The brief asks the students to investigate the Irish city of Waterford, the country’s fifth largest city. Presented are both strategic urban visions for the city and architectural proposals with viable, potential investors. The results are a wide variety of typologies that all interpret the idea of “Working Life” in contemporary society.INDUSTRIA includes the curation of a travelling exhibition, the publication of a 300 page research document and the coordination of a day long symposium.

The Meeting of Design Students (MEDS) is an established international network of young designers that meets annually for a 2 week workshop. This year’s event is hosted by MEDS Ireland and will take place in Dublin City from the 10th to the 24th August 2014. Over 200 third-level students and graduates of various design disciplines from around the world will participate in a variety of workshops that foster the development of design, communication, leadership, technical and social skills in a dynamic multi-cultural environment. These workshops are based on collaborative and co-operative learning, affording participants great opportunities in terms of skill and idea sharing. For many, it is of great benefit to engage in such an informal learning process to complement their more prescribed traditional educational program.
