This role consists of looking after guests with excellent customer service, ensuring that their needs and wants are catered for as they expect a five-star hotel standard. It is crucial that their order is taken correctly, food is brought to them promptly, and that they have an enjoyable experience. I work mostly breakfast and lunch shifts here in castlemartyr, and though the principles are the same, each day brings new opportunities to learn and grow. Since I am studying food science in university college Cork, my role here correlates well as I can gain firsthand knowledge and understanding both in the kitchen, behind the bar, and on the floor. I have gained great insight into food safety standard, presentation, and of course making meal times a joyous event.

Being a member of Cork Acro Gymnastics Club for over 10 years, I have learned many skills and gained multiple attributes. It is definitely a team sport in the sense that everyone works together for training and competition routines to run smoothly and to the highest level possible. I have competed in many Regional and National competitions around the country and have been successful in many of these. I currently act as an assistant coach for children's recreational gymnastics, and enjoy teaching them life long skills and aiding understanding of friendships and working in harmony.

During my time in this employment I worked in the kitchen, behind the bar and also front of house. It was a very fast environment which required problem solving, organisational skills and quick thinking. I learned a lot about employment and the world of work in this role. I acquired many skills such as how to prioritize tasks during a busy rush and how to deal effectively and efficiently with any issues a customer may have found. Employment here was a great opportunity to learn and increase knowledge.
