Subspecialties Surgical Unit in Level 1 Trauma Center: Ortho-Trauma, Burns, Urology; Ear, Nose, Throat; Neurology, Vascular, Podiatry, and Medicine Overflow. Primarily post-operative patients with cancer of the head and neck, airway, or urological concerns, or for the treatment of a wound. I performed charge nurse and preceptor duties with a full patient assignment. Specialized skills include tracheostomy/laryngectomy care, advanced nutrition (PEG/NG Tubes), wound care, VAC therapies, and Continuous Bladder Irrigations.

Departments: Pediatrics Clinic (May 2010- May 2011) & Preventative Health (May 2011- May 2012), Medical Education & Training (March 2012 - September 2014),(4 years 7 months)-Set staff duties, staff rotations, preserved patient appointments, and managed $3.5K funding and equipment. This military occupation is the historical basis for the modern Physician’s Assistant (PA), designed to act as a provider in locations where medical staff is limited. It is a combination of nine medical positions: Emergency Medical Technician, Public Health, Bioenvironmental, Pharmacist, Laboratory Technician, Medical Records, Dental Technician, and Immunizations Technician. The training is rapidly paced and academically challenging; there are less than 200 IDMTs Air Force wide. Primary duties include patient care intake; physical examinations, ordering pertinent lab values/testing, formulating diagnosis and treatment plan, prescribing and administering medications, performing follow up evaluations and reviewing treatment effectiveness, and incorporated extensive medical documentation (including ICD9 coding) via manual patient charting/trending. Additional duties included: water sampling, food/facility sanitation inspections, Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) program maintenance, preventative health screenings, and vaccination scheduling/administration.
