Goal: Discover key changes to the structure and mechanical properties of the murine reproductive tract to improve current computational models of pregnancy remodeling. This knowledge will improve future translational work to aid Pelvic Organ Prolapse prevention and treatment. Show less -
Undergraduate Research AssistantGeorgia Institute Of Technology Aug 2019 - Dec 2019Continuing my work from my summer REU in Dr. Dixon's Laboratory of Lymphatic Biology and Bioengineering. I'm working on the analysis of infiltration and recruitment of various immune cell populations during lymphedema progression. -
Sure Undergraduate ResearcherGeorgia Institute Of Technology May 2019 - Jul 2019Greater Atlanta AreaI had the opportunity to be a part of the SURE program at Georgia Tech, a summer REU. Over the course of ten weeks, I performed an individual research project under the direction of a graduate mentor in Dr. Dixon's Laboratory for Lymphatic Biology and Bioengineering. My project focused on analyzing the recruitment and infiltration of immune cells during lymphedema progression. I learned about immunobiology and was trained in wax paraffin embedding, immunohistochemistry staining protocols, and… Show more I had the opportunity to be a part of the SURE program at Georgia Tech, a summer REU. My project focused on analyzing the recruitment and infiltration of immune cells during lymphedema progression. I learned about immunobiology and was trained in wax paraffin embedding, immunohistochemistry staining protocols, and confocal imaging. I was able to present my research orally and in a poster session at the 2019 SURE Research Symposium. There I was able to communicate my findings to people of various backgrounds, from high school students to post-docs and professors. Ultimately, I won second place in oral presentations for my category. Show less -
Undergraduate ResearcherGeorgia Institute Of Technology Aug 2018 - May 2019Proud to have joined Dr. Gleason's new research effort in creating a new low-cost device to diagnose pre-eclampsia in women during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. Starting with just the overall concept, a team of three undergraduate students and myself designed an experimental plan to create a low-cost paper-based, wax screen printed microfluidic assay that would use colorimetric analysis to detect 6 biomarkers found in the blood of pregnant women with pre-eclampsia. This experience taught me… Show more Proud to have joined Dr. Gleason's new research effort in creating a new low-cost device to diagnose pre-eclampsia in women during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. This experience taught me how to design a plan for research and how to read through past literature to generate a novel idea. The first prototype was made late in the spring and showed promise for future models. Show less -
