Presenter on Durban Community Radio: Film and Entertainment (until community radio licences were withdrawn)Presenter on MegaZone Hit Radio: Film and Entertainment (2014-2015)Presenter on CAPS Radio: Film, entertainment and reading for books for children (2018-2019)Having specialised in entertainment reviews over the years, I was appointed as host of the Ster-Kinekor Movie Connoisseur Club (Cinema Nouveau Durban) – this was a programme which ran in Jhb (Barry Ronge), Cape Town (Rodney Trudgeon) and Dbn: movie previews with a short introduction in which we set the context of the film about to be screened and included a bit of trivia. Although we weren’t mandated to remain for the screening I did and as a result established a Movie Club database. Having returned to Johannesburg in 2018, it was an honour to be readily accepted into the film critics circle and prior to COVID continued attending film previews and writing film reviews.

Turned the business around to profitability in four months, however, due to COVID this was literally eradicated overnight. Worked on the backend of the POS system, setting up stock control; revamped the kitchen to ensure that it met the hygienic specifications; mentored both the front staff and the kitchen staff bringing them to the realisation that they are a team – that the customer is priority and they should go to the nth degree to ensure satisfaction.I believe that a customer ‘eats with his eyes first’ so presentation is tantamount and tasting the food should be sublime.

GoingPlacesSA was formed in 2003 due to the gap in the market place for pertinent information on the happenings in KZN. After extensive research it was decided to establish a website www.goingplacessa.co.za / www.goingplacessa.com which had over 200 000 pages read a month, a following of over 1-million and provided coverage of entertainment and tourism countrywide.

Started as a proof reader on a flexi-time basis soon moved into subbing and proofing. Took over the features, supplements and advertorial as Features Editor in 1996. Worked closely with the Repro department, editorial and advertising departments. Started the entertainment section in the Zululand Observer in 1996 and started from scratch forging the necessary links which stand firm today. Spent one-and-a-half years as Production Editor which included working closely with the layout section of the repro department to ensure a quality paper which reads well and looks good. Other responsibilities included the ZO Weekender (Entertainment supplement) and the Big Wheel (Motoring supplement).I also acted as co-ordinator/ editor of the Zululand GetIt magazine; submitted movie reviews on a weekly basis and was on call to create supplements/articles which needed in-depth research and interviews.
