previously I worked in emergency accommodation hostel, I support service users through the housing process into their own tenancy or temporary accommodation also support them to sign post to other services such as addictions, health and homelessness nurses and mental health services. Since the service closed I moved to Simon community Hub in Glasgow. I have been there a year now as part time and decided to take a full time post which starts this month, the hub is an advice and information centre for people experiencing homelessness or potentially becoming homeless. we come across a wide variety of issues from benefits to supporting asylum seekers and much more. During lockdown we have seen an increase in new service users, the hub was closed so we did outreach and surgeries at the hotels which has helped us to support people that are new to homelessness and need support through the process, although the hub is now open we have continued with the outreach as it has been a valuable service for people in these difficult times. I am proud to be part of such a dedicated team.In 2021 I joined the PHOENIX team full time where I worked along side a pharmacist, delivering a holistic approach in care. The pharmacist woukd deal with any health issues allowing people to access this as accessing main stream health care is very problematic when you are homeless and have a transient lifestyle. my role was social prescibing, everything from benefits to accessing accommodation and meaningful activity. This was all part of a clinical trial for people who had experienced a none fstal overdose, this has since been published. After my funding ended I joined the intensive outreach support. We support some of the vulnerable and marginalised people to access services. In my spare time I have studied photography and am continuing to build on the skills learned at college, I also enjoy spending time with my family and long walks.
