Technical Manuscript Writing And Editing | Time Management
Contributed to writing and editing a manuscript containing the results of my Postdoctoral Research Fellowship- published 27 May 2020 (see publications below)
Biochemical Engineering Systems Researcher (Systems Biology) | Epsrc Postdoctoral Research Fellow
As an EPSRC Research Fellow I expanded the modelling frameworks built in my previous research work to investigate spatial organization and regulation of bacterial biochemical networks, such as in Caulobacter crescentus growth cycle; which led to 1 peer-reviewed journal article. • Gained expertise in analysing chemical reactions and intermolecular reactions such as feedback and feedforward, in complex bacterial networks, which give rise to non-linear behaviour such as, ultrasensitivity and bistability, utilizing mathematical modelling and non-linear dynamical numerical tools such as Matcont and Matlab.• Cultivated technical knowledge and literacy by widely researching two-component systems and bifunctional enzymes in multiple bacterial networks• Continually refined technical communication skills by presenting talks and posters and won 3rd prize for a poster at the Imperial College London- CPSE-UCL Industrial consortium meeting.• Built Virtual Project management and Change management skills by working remotely, across time zones and ensuring task and project completion
Parental Leave
Researcher | Analyst | Mathematical Modelling And Simulation
* Developed deterministic mechanistic, quantitative and qualitative systems-based modelling frameworks to demonstrate how purely temporal analysis falls short in predicting (and engineering) spatially regulated cellular behaviour.* Authored 4 peer-reviewed publications (including one highly accessed) and presented talks and posters at 9 international and national conferences; secured three travel grants to fund international travel and won two prizes for poster presentations.* Mentored and co-supervised undergraduate students and coached Ph.D. candidates for their entry exams* Developed wide breadth of expertise in biological systems, systems engineering approaches and non-linear dynamics
Research Assistant
• Worked in a team of professors and graduate students on 2 collaborative research projects• Created experimental protocols, setup experimental design, executed procedures and collected and analysed data to support preliminary findings for 2 PhD theses• Acquired biochemistry and microbiology technical skills such as anaerobic cultivation, Western Blots, and protein purification, to name a few.• Gained training in two different cell systems- Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Sulphalobus sulfataricus• Presented posters and gave talks at 2 conferences
Researcher
* Collaborated in a team of five to analyse the cost and environmental benefits of recycling a waste stream; demonstrated a 10% reduction in operation costs leading to further testing for scale-up operation in the pilot plant facility.* Trained team members in essential experimental techniques, including microbiological techniques such as aseptic plating methods and optical density measurements for Bacillus subtilis, and performed rigorous engineering analyses and calculations.* Led meetings, presented research to peers, professors, and engineers, including a company-wide final presentation and liaised with lab technicians and plant supervisors.
