My name is Aimar Alvarez and I am a student at Baltimore City Community College. My current major is biotechnology as I have quite a bit of experience thanks to the internships I’ve done in the past and the one I’m currently in right now. I currently work at Congruence Medical Solutions as an intern where I work in manufacturing medical devices. I'm also able to participate in the design process of the medical device and participate in many ongoing projects. I was able to obtain strong analytical skills by testing many medical devices and learning how to use various equipment. In one of my recent internships, I worked as an intern at “Scitech” a branch of Towson located at the Columbus center. For this internship, I learned how to make agarose gels, prepare media’s, aseptic techniques, pipetting, make solutions, basic laboratory math, lab prepping, and packing. With these internships, I was able to gain the experience needed to fully understand the biotechnology and bioengineering field as I’m still exploring this field to gain more experience, and skills and to obtain a full-time position.
