    I wrote the business plan for aimClear in 2006 and launched it on January 1, 2007. All previous experience had prepared me to pursue my fanatical interest, online marketing. First clients included Minnesota BlueCross, my previous employer (IPR) and a mid-market hotel group. The company grew quickly and within 6 years made the Inc. 500 list, as one of America's fastest growing privately held companies.

    TerraAura was a company before it's time. After helping to sell millions of CDs for other companies, blending nature sounds and music, I started TerraAura with another well known entrepreneur. We created 22 lovely music CDs, ranging from dolphin song, loons, ocean and wolves blended with global acoustic music. The Internet was nascent and the surfing, music-loving public wanted music for free. Still, we generated revenue online for over 2 years and I had the pleasure of traveling the world, from the Minnesota Boundary Waters to Nantucket and Puget Sound recording natural sounds.

    Westmoreland Agency, at the time, was a pure B2B old school advertising agency beginning to dapple in online. They hired me straight away from my job as Creative Director of KDLH and charged me with creative a digital program. Soon, because of Westmoreland's decades of PR, positioning, advertising and design savvy, we were the dominant website developers in Northern Minnesota. There I had the pleasure of learning from incredible gray-haired executives, old school and everything good (and non-perverse) you think of when watching Mad Men. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from this generation of content-centric marketers. As the online marketing industry evolves back to the future, the skills learned at Westmoreland seem to become more and more valuable.

    I followed my love Minnesota to Duluth in 1995 and took over as Creative Services Director of our (former) small market CBS affiliate. In the first 3 months I wrote all the music for the news, animated and edited the news opening and closing segments, registered the domain and designed their first website. The experience was amazing because we had a website asset few companies had at the time; traffic. We learned to tell people on the news to visit the web for the rest of the story and vice versa. KDLH sent me all around America to help other News Directors in the station group create their first websites. The experience was formative because I grew to understand the Tao of commercial media; The Sales Director fancied Creative Services as a free source for TV Ads to sell media. The News Director thought of CS as a free service to package content for sweeps. The General Manager expected us to make aggressive revenue projections. LOL.We were the first station in Northern Minnesota to have an Avid and other digital video editing tools like AfterEffects. I learned a lot about video production that has served me for my whole career. I'm very proud of the media we created for our station and clients. KDLH was another important cog in my agency education.
