Director, Programs

United States

Regional Director for the Southeast, US

May 2021 - Oct 2023

Senior Program Consultant

Tampa, Florida

Working remotely from Tampa, Florida, I partner with school districts across the country to support the implementation of a systems approach to developing teachers, teacher leaders, and school leaders in order to meet the needs of the most vulnerable student populations and eliminate educational inequities. Through consultation, 1:1 job-embedded instructional coaching across grade levels and subject areas, and delivery and design of professional learning, I work with my partners to manage, monitor, and refine the goals they have for their students and teachers to excel.

Jun 2017 - May 2021

Supervisor, Performance Evaluation

Tampa, Florida

Responsible for the leadership, professional development, and evaluation of 120 Instructional Mentors as a part of the Educator Induction Program (EIP) for the 8th largest school district in the nation. Annually, our EIP program provides support to over 2000 new educators. These educators represent a variety of levels of experience, content areas, and grade levels, as well as those working at sites in non-classroom positions, such as guidance counselors, school psychologist, social workers, media specialists, and speech-language pathologists. As the supervisor of this program, I oversee the development of professional development for each of these unique groups as part of their induction experience, while building capacity and leadership skills among the Instructional Mentors. Collaboration with other District leaders, community members, fundraising, and other agencies related to our work is necessary in my role. In addition to these responsibilities, I also oversee and generate opportunities for the National Board Certified teachers in our District. This includes management of payroll related to the bonuses they receive, coordination of mentoring opportunities for experienced teachers, and the development of a program to increase the number of teachers applying for certification.

Jun 2016 - Aug 2017

Lead Mentor

Tampa, Florida

Responsibilities included working in collaboration with New Teacher Center (NTC) and program leaders to facilitate and design professional development for approximately 95 new teacher mentors. This required extensive training from NTC (including participation in Presenter Academies and online professional development), attendance at Symposiums, and coaching from NTC program consultants (Lori Pope and Fred Williams). Through my association with NTC, I was accepted as a presenter at Symposium and invited to represent the organization at the 2015 ECET2 conference. Building leadership capacity among the mentor cadre, as well as monitoring program impact was a priority, and was incorporated into my daily work. Non- evaluative coaching for mentor growth was an additional focus of my work, leading to an invitation from NTC to contribute to the creation of videos highlighting coaching skills. I often represented the program at District, State, and National Levels, including recruitment sessions and presentations to the Florida Association of District School Superintendents.

Sep 2013 - May 2016

New Teacher Mentor

In 2010, the mentor program was established in Hillsborough County. As a member of the inaugural cadre, I contributed to the development of program expectations and participated in a series of Academies developed by New Teacher Center (NTC). On-going professional development was an expectation, and achieved through additional NTC Academies as new products such as Learning Zone and the updated FAS tools/ Guidebook were introduced. These learning experiences allowed me to execute the vision and mission of our program- accelerate new teacher growth to increase student achievement. My caseload included a diverse representation of the types of schools found in Hillsborough County (from high to low SES; A-rated to focus schools) and a variety of content areas at the secondary level.
