As the Buena Vista County EMA Coordinator, I am responsible for creating and maintaining the county's Emergency Operations Plan, the Hazard Mitigation Plan,and the Recovery Plan. This also includes building connections with outside agencies that may play a role in our response to and recovery from any type of event. I am the liaison between the elected officials and the emergency responders at the county level. I facilitate numerous trainings and exercises for responders, elected and appointed officials, and the public based upon identified needs. I am responsible for maintaining and managing the County EOC. I write and administer several grants for not only the county, but also individual departments and the sixteen county region that I work within. I am currently the Homeland Security Region 3 Chair, chair of the Regional LEPC, and a member of the State-wide All Regions Homeland Security Board. I also serve on the Homeland Security Advisory Committee for the State of Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department's Director.

As the Regional Homeland Security Planner, I worked with sixteen counties in Northwest Iowa. I was responsible for the creation and execution of Homeland Security grant related projects. I assisted the fiscal agent with the management of the grants. I also successfully wrote Homeland Security related grants on behalf of the region.
