As the Group Manager - Organisation Capability, I am accountable for identifying, prioritising and implementing initiatives to build the organisational capability required to deliver the OZ Minerals’ strategy. Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, this role works closely with the Executive Committee and Senior Management across the organisation to leverage our capabilities and drive an accountability culture under a newly developed operating model. As the Business Improvement (BI) Manager I am accountable for developing and implementing the BI strategy for the Prominent Hill mining operation. Reporting to the General Manager, this role is empowered to influence and collaborate with all site leaders (including our contracting organisations) to foster and embed a culture of improvement. This role partners with site leaders to positively impact achievement of the Prominent Hill mine’s strategic objectives by: • Embedding standard BI methodologies, processes and tools• Driving the disciplines around idea generation, selection and implementation • Building BI as a business competence by managing all training, development and up-skilling requirements for Prominent Hill personnel.I am also responsible for leading key initiatives to maximise the value of the Prominent Hill asset including facilitating post implementation reviews, streamlining the development of functional strategies and providing standardised frameworks for assessing organisational maturity (with a focus on contracting organisations).

The purpose of the Commercial Analysis and Improvement Superintendent role was to support the Commercial Manager by providing analytical support for the Prominent Hill Operation.This role was responsible for leading the Business Improvement Project Management Office including development, implementation and administration of all standard business improvement tools and methodologies With a sound understanding of key commercial processes and disciplines, this role also required me to lead and manage the delivery of business and systems analyst services to internal customers. This incorporated reviewing and identifying opportunities to streamline reporting, upgrade systems and deliver efficiencies in business processes. In addition this position provided site strategy and planning support to both the Commercial Manager and Prominent Hill operations team including the provision of sensitivity and scenario analysis.

Based at the Minerva Mine site, with a team of five staff I was accountable for the operation’s commercial and administration functions including Contracts, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable and Site Administration. Reporting to the General Manager, I managed the preparation of budgets and forecasts and the delivery of monthly reporting for seven companies within the Felix Resources Group. I attended joint venture and board meetings including the presentation of capital and operating recommendations. Partnering with senior management both on-site and in head office I was responsible for managing the implementation of multiple reporting systems (goods receipting, inventory and production) and applying continuous improvement methodologies to financial, commercial and procurement processes including the documentation of policies and procedures.My role also included the negotiation of key mine site contracts and the administration of mining tenement documentation including correspondence with the Department of Mines and Energy.

Based at the Minerva Mine site and reporting to the Manager – Management Accounting and Reporting I was primarily responsible for preparing month end accounts, including joint venture management accounts, operating cost reports, variance analysis and key performance indicators. I also managed the half-year and year-end external audit processes as well as the preparation of Special Purpose Financial Reports for the Minerva Mine.Ensuring the trial balances were prepared in accordance with company accounting policies was a key focus of this role. Accordingly general ledger reconciliations were performed accurately and on time and there was a strong emphasis on the management of assets including monitoring of assets under construction, capitalisation and disposal of assets, and reviewing effective lives.I was responsible for cash flow forecasting including preparation of 13-week cash forecasts and issuing of cash calls to joint venture partners. This role also involved the preparation and submission of quarterly royalty returns, monthly business activity statements and annual research and development claims with relevant government bodies.

This role was primarily focused on accounting and taxation compliance for small to medium enterprises and high wealth individuals. With a strong emphasis on client relationships, I liaised directly with business owners to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, income tax returns, fringe benefits tax returns and business activity statements.As a supervisor, I managed the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts including review of general ledger reconciliations. I was also responsible for liaising closely with legal advisers and government bodies in relation to the establishment of new business structures as well as business acquisitions and sales.
