This deli is based in a village where the demographic is largely over 60 and for many residents we provide a place where they can come and feel that they are not alone.

As part of my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award I needed to complete 8 weeks of volunteering activity. My passion is horse riding and I am an experienced rider and horsewomen so I looked for something where I could use my skills effectively. I assisted the riding school by providing lead rein support to children (aged 5-18) with complex needs during their riding lessons. I was responsible for tacking up and untacking the horses before and after these lessons and ensuring that stables were mucked out and horses groomed. The riding centre leader recognised my skills and asked me to ride one of the newer horses to help de-sensitise and train him so that he could be used for disabled riders in the future.
