Corporate communications and stakeholder engagement lead, with two direct reports. Responsible for developing and implementing the co-operatives reputation strategy. The fertiliser sector is responding to increased regulation and pressure from government, media and interest groups, requiring an open and transparent engagement strategy to build trust and awareness.

AUT is the third largest University in New Zealand and has 2,500 staff and 26,000 students. This is a newly formed strategic corporate communications and community role that is tasked with ensuring the university achieves its business objectives by working collaboratively across the university to develop and execute community, government and corporate communications activities. Manage relationships with community organisations, partners, thought leaders, policymakers, key journalists and editors. Provide communications and community engagement counsel to the Vice Chancellor and the University’s senior leaders. Effectively respond to media on behalf of AUT during an issue/crisis and lead an internal communications programme that informs and inspires AUT staff.

Auckland

To contribute to, and champion, the reputation management of AUT through strategically leading the corporate communications activities and team, as a service provision to the Vice Chancellor’s office (VC) and Executive Management Team (EMT).

Key achievements: developed and implemented CCA's internal and external CSR (sustainability) programme, and produced the companies first report responsible for creating, negotiating and implementing the voluntary removal of sugar sweetened sparkling drinks from secondary schools by NZ beverage industry, and in partnership with Health and Education Ministers/Ministries proactive media management of the voluntary schools agreement including a joint press conference with the Labour Lead government successfully lobbied against proposed changes to Public Health Bill and successfully lobbied for change to the Private Members Bill on Waste Managementinvested more than $4 million over five years into voluntary recycling schemes including development of an event recycling bin and guidelines, and launched NZ's first public place recycling scheme in Auckland lobbied beverage industry to introduce "Recommended Daily Intake" (RDI) on pack
