I've always been interested in people - their stories, what matters to them, and what drives them forward. This curiosity led me to study psychology at uni and later, into recruitment.My career kicked off in Japan, where I spent 2 years in a recruitment agency, learning how to match talent with businesses. Believing in what you do, being good at it, and genuinely enjoying the people you work with was something that seemed elusive to so many people I spoke to. I realised pretty quickly that I wanted to do more than just fill roles. I wanted to help people find this balance and thrive in their roles. Which is what prompted me to look for an internal role.So, with just a couple of suitcases, I made the leap to Melbourne. The day after I landed, I interviewed with Bellroy and found the role I'd been dreaming of. Fast forward seven years, and I'm still here, leading recruitment across the business. I partner with hiring managers to build their teams and love welcoming new Bellrovians to the nest. For me, recruitment is much more than just looking at a resume and having a couple of conversations about past experiences. We want to understand how you apply your skills, ensure we're aligned on expectations, and can provide an environment where you'll flourish. We take a flexible approach to identifying talent and remain open-minded. Some of our best hires have come from different backgrounds than we expected or applied for one role and ended up shining in another. This approach allows us to build diverse teams and we balance this art with science by using a structured recruitment process and ensuring we capture the information we need to make evidence-based decisions.We want our people to love their jobs more as the days go by.
