About Aimee Allison

Our work is to love our own and others, to make justice the law of the land, to create a country where everyone belongs, and to make this American democracy live up to its greatest promise. I founded She the People to elevate the political voice of women of color to transform America, to build a multiracial democracy, and to usher in a new progressive and cultural era in America. I work with and for women of color, the core of a multiracial coalition that represents the future of American politics. She the People catalyzed a national movement with the first ever presidential forum focused on women of color. I've been quoted in hundreds of media outlets, always putting women of color in the center of the national political scene. I have published pieces in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Teen Vogue Magazine, and Essence Magazine among others.

Founder and president of national network elevating the voice and power of women of color. I bring together voters, organizers, and elected leaders in a movement grounded in values of love, justice, belonging, and democracy. In 2018, I was one of the primary architects of the “year of women of color in politics.” In April 2019, I convened the first presidential forum for women of color with 8 candidates and a audience reaching a quarter of the American population. As a democratic innovator and visionary, I lead national efforts to build inclusive, multiracial coalitions led by women of color. I leverage media, research and analysis to increase voter engagement and advocate for racial, economic and gender justice. My writing has appeared in the New York Times, The Hill, Essence, Teen Vogue and Newsweek. In the early 1990’s, I earned a rare honorable discharge from the U.S. Army as a conscientious objector and work today to support courageous, moral leadership.

Built focus and investment to expand and strengthen the power of voters of color through advocacy, media and data. I called Black women to "Get in Formation" behind Stacey Abrams, who would transform progressive politics in the South. I organized the first Democratic National Convention forum highlighting the central role of women of color: “Women of Color: Uniting the Party, Leading the Country." I moderated the first DNC Chair Forum to address race and the future of the Democratic Party. I founded and hosted the Democracy in Color podcast featuring our best and brightest leaders and organizers across the country.
