Successfully accepted onto the 2019 Saltire Scholar Internship Programme (out of 1000's of applicants) and subsequently completed internship with biotechnology company in Boston, MA. Funded by Entrepreneurial Scotland, the internship programme's mission is to find, fuel and spark the next generation of leaders for Scotland, with an aim to match high-potential undergraduates from Scottish universities with leading global and entrepreneurial companies. The programme boasts its ability to secure high-potential individuals due to its rigorous screening process (7 steps before successful placement onto an internship) that demonstrate interns come equipped with strong leadership qualities and the latest skills to drive innovation, leadership and impact.I was then selected to be an alumni and ambassador of Saltire Scholar internship programme following on from successful completion of internship. As an ambassador, responsibilities included interviewing future candidates, on-campus and online promotion of internship programme, attending ambassador events to help achieve vision of developing next generation of entrepreneurial leaders in Scotland. Completed a 2 month internship at Bacainn Therapeutics, a biotechnology start-up company, as part of the Saltire Scholar Internship Programme. Role included researching new opportunities for Bacainn Therapeutics, as well as two other start-up companies, Artugen Therapeutics and ClearB Therapeutics.Internship culminated in a report produced on my desk-based analysis, interpretation, conclusion and recommendations of the structure-activity relationship (SAR) of novel drug compounds of interest. Other skills developed include SWOT analysis on start-ups position within saturated biotechnology market, contract negotiation, project management, future growth opportunities.
