San Diego Hospice provided end-of-life care to terminally ill patients and their families throughout San Diego County. The Institute for Palliative Medicine provided palliative care education to medical students, nursing students, and fellows both nationally and internationally. •Recruited, selected, trained, managed, and retained volunteers. Provided volunteers with guidance, encouragement and coaching. Developed and implemented volunteer training programs and various specialized programs with a continual focus on excellence, quality, and compliance. Planned, executed, and finalized projects on time, within budget and scope objectives including acquiring resources and coordinating efforts of team members in order to deliver projects according to plan. •Managed up to 250 volunteers at once. Cultivated and maintained relationships with a continual focus on excellent patient care as well as volunteer satisfaction and retention. •Hand-selected to develop and implement various specialty care programs including Pet Peace of Mind, Mentor, and Spiritual Care programs. Responsible for recruitment, creating training curriculum and materials, policies and procedures, and marketing materials, and obtaining buy-in from all stakeholders. •Developed competency exams for all newly trained volunteers. •Collaborated with a team to produce events for groups of 20 – 800 attendees including developing themes, managing site specifics, hiring vendors, advertising, and maintaining budgets.•Facilitated group supervision meetings to provide volunteers with support and guidance.
