Profile bio

About Aimi Ah Sing

In my 8th year of teaching English to a diverse population, I have flexed every possible muscle in this changing world of education. I have helped roll out a project-based learning pathway for digital and performing arts with a culminating showcase, explored design-learning, researched and implemented curriculum on a post-secondary career development, and kept connected to alumni who often reach out when transitioning into their future education and career pathways.I love to lead by translating language of any kind: academic vocabulary, verbal social skills, and speaking openly about accessibility. Developing teams, individuals, and programs that strive for equity, diversity, and inclusion is my goal in any position. My Native Hawaiian roots and culture inform my approach to mediation, social-emotional development, hospitality, and community building. My strengths include an open mind about the future paired with a connection to a deeply rich cultural past, both of which inform the world of connections and community I build in all areas of my life. I enjoy and respect facilitating mediation, restoring relationships, maintaining healthy growth mindsets, and reflecting often. I have also found my niche in facilitating social-emotional learning and career development with adults in educational settings. I value what can be done with a conversation with the idea that discussion will reveal truths and solutions if people feel safe to speak.I AM AN INFORMATION AND GAMING NERD. I love the creativity provided by the gaming work community, and the narratives, lore, and gamer experience matter to someone who is a novice player but loves the tutorials. I spend a lot of time gleaning information about story-telling, player dynamics, and consumer desires when it comes to gaming in a world where such different interests converge.I love finding the unique ways to phrase and pick apart language to make concepts more accessible. Those who may struggle with communication skills or need to develop their language in a particular field find me eager and valuable in helping solve linguistic, organizational, technological, diversification, and social-emotional puzzles. I aim to connect professionally as a trouble-shooter with a plan and a fall-back plan always at hand! My passions for both people and learning have driven me since I was 5 years old and thought I wanted to be a ballet or hula teacher. I may not be dancing (professionally), but I am helping others develop and succeed in life, not just a career. I am dedicated to making all spaces welcoming.
