About Amy Rushton
I am a Chair of the Board of Trustees at the National Survivor User Network (NSUN), a network of people and groups with lived experience of mental health issues. With over 15 years of experience in Higher Education and the charitable sector, I have developed strong skills in research, communication, and management, as well as a passion for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in its widest, intersectional form.As the Chair of NSUN, I lead and support the strategic direction and governance of the organization, ensuring that it remains accountable, transparent, and responsive to its members and stakeholders. I also use my professional platform and personal identity as a LGBTQ+ person to advocate for EDI in the mental health sector and beyond. Additionally, I am a Senior Lecturer in English at Nottingham Trent University, where I specialize in contemporary literature and culture, and contribute to the leadership and development of the School of Arts and Humanities. I have recently designed and delivered a new interdisciplinary module on well-being and community for first year undergraduates, drawing on my lived experience and professional expertise.
