Supporting students from Year 9-Year 13 or the college equivalent with their post 16 and post 18 options. Most recently I supported East Coast College (both Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth campuses) and Lowestoft Sixth Form College with informing and educating pre 19 and 19 + students on their post 18 options with a focus on higher education and higher and degree apprenticeships. Interaction with students is on a 1:1 basis or group workshops/assembly style delivery. I coordinate large scale, on-campus events at the University of Suffolk to support students with making their decisions about higher education. These will often be delivered in collaboration with University of Suffolk staff including academics and colleagues in student life/support.I sit within the Access team, working with Underrepresented groups including:- Estranged students - Mature learners - Care experienced- Military Families - Refugee/Asylum seekers- Gypsy, Roma, traveller students (GRT) - Global majority students- Looked after Children- Students with disabilities Aiming to offer more tailored support to these groups which will support them with considering higher education.I have recently undertaken the role of HE Parent Carer Champion which was created to understand more about the needs of parents and carers and finding effective ways to equip them with the knowledge and understanding they need to be able to support their young people, and develop effective parental engagement strategies to meet these needs. As a Probation Service Officer, I managed my own caseload of low-medium risk offenders. Managing them both over the phone (due to COVID) and face to face working together to implement positive change and deter from reoffending. Preparing a variety of reports including court reports and delivering individual programmes to challenge offending behaviour. Supporting service users with obtaining housing and maintaining a pro-social life style and sign posting to support around drugs and/or alcohol if required and offering education or employment support and encouraging service users to work with other agencies. My duties include 1:1 coaching with young people aged between 16-24 around employability with elements of confidence building depending on the individuals support needs. I offer support for young people in creating CV's, job searching, accessing volunteering and training opportunities, completing job applications and interview skills. I will attend local supported housing agencies to register young people. I have a close working relationship with the Early Help Team in Felixstowe where we work alongside each other to ensure young people on our caseloads are getting the support they need from both agencies and that work isn't being duplicated. I regularly attend business network meetings which it vital to my role to ensure I know what support is available for the young people in their area and how I can help them access this. My aim is to offer individual support for each young person and ensure they are on the right path suitable for them to get them ready to start employment, volunteering or go on to further education. I also complete an element of outreach within this role where I will set up and attend different locations to engage with local young people and acquire new registrations for the service. Show less

The programme is designed for 16-25 year olds that are not in education, employment or training (NEET). My role was a very diverse one, engaging with a group of young people on a daily basis over the 12 weeks, offering support and coaching them to complete their work in order to get a recognised qualification in employability, teamwork and community skills. I worked with external support networks to offer the right support for each individual. I worked closely with my fellow team leader, between us we offer support for those with drug and alcohol problems, mental health issues, disabilities and challenging behaviours and making referrals to the appropriate agencies where necessary. Another aspect of the role was recruiting. I had a close working relationship with the local Job centre,supported housing groups and MyGo in order to recruit suitable young people for our programme. I attended monthly catch up sessions on Saturdays with the trainer, fellow life coaches and the young people.My main role as a life coach was to help the young person set and reach achievable goals. My role was to support my team, which consisted of social workers and family support practitioners. I was trusted to deal with confidential data surrounding the young people the team worked with. I am familiar with the Team Around the Child (TAC) process and sent out these details when necessary in a timely, secure manner. I have gained important knowledge of the processes and procedures that occur when working with vulnerable children and young people.

I completed work on the computer systems uploading confidential data about the young people attending The Mix as well as taking room bookings. I worked with the local Youth Offending Team helping to co-ordinate and support a range of interventions and community reparation projects for young offenders aged between eleven and eighteen. This role involved supervising the young offenders whilst they complete their reparation hours in various community settings.
