Breedon is a construction materials group in the UK and Ireland. In April 2018 Breedon acquired the Lagan Group companies in Northern and the Republic of Ireland. The Group employs over 3,000 people throughout the UK and Ireland. The Republic of Ireland companies in which I was HR Business Partner, employs over 300 people. Reporting to the HR Manager for the island of Ireland and supporting 2 CEO's, 7 Business Directors, Business Managers and Senior Management teams for the Cement, Products and Asphalt divisions in the Republic of Ireland. Key to the role is collaboration, both in projects I was directly involved and in promoting and facilitating collaboration within the company. Lagan Products represents the cement, tile and clay manufacturing divisions of the Lagan Group, which employees over 1,000 people in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK. The Lagan Products division in which I initially joined through a Graduate Programme as a HR Administrator in 2015, now support the division as HR Generalist. Which employs over 250 people in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Reporting to the HR Manager over the products division, I was the first point of contact for the Business Managers, Senior and Line Management teams across 20 sites in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Dunnes Workshop located in the Midlands of Ireland employs over 100 people. After applying to enter the Leonardo da Vinci Program – Mobility Abroad for Knowledge, Experience and Initial Vocational Training at Galway Technical Institute, I was shortlisted and selected to take part. I was 1 of a group of 8 students who took part in French Language/ Culture classes before travelling to France and working for 3 weeks in Cache Cache Clothing Store as a sales assistant.
